It is interesting that the factoid that Atta received payment from Mohmed Ahmed, a Pakistani intelligence officer, member of the ISI (a CIA spinoff) has completely disappeared from the internet and the media at large. This Ahmed was in Washington at the time of the 9/11 massacre meeting with such notables as Richard Armitage. He was later sacked on a trumped up charge because the reality is too embarassing.
The above factoid was released by the India newspapers who are not at all friendly to Pakistan.

Officials said the Yemen citizen was refused a U.S. visa four times in 2000 because of suspicions he wouldn't leave America if he was let in. HELLO WASHINGTON - is anybody listening? Can you say CLOSE THE BORDERS - ISSUE NO MORE VISAS?? G*D, government is STUPID!!

To state that Pakistani Military Intelligence Branch (ISI) is a spin-off of the CIA gives you the tinfoil hat for the day.

I think the fact is that that guy Sheikh involved in the Pearl murder transferred $100,000 to Atta on Gen. Ahmed's instructions, and that Indian intelligence intercepted their communications. When this fact came out, Gen. Ahmed was forced to resign as director general of the ISI. But you're right, it's interesting that the role of the ISI in 9/11 has been mysteriously ignored by the media. I guess the pressies have been made aware that preserving the ostensible alliance between the U.S. and Gen. Musharraf's government is a matter of national security in this war.
By the way, I had read initial reports that Gen. Ahmed was in the Pentagon on 9/11 meeting somebody when the plane hit. I posted here on FR asking for confirmation. Turns out, Gen. Ahmed was on Capitol Hill meeting the heads of the congressional intel committees. I have long wondered why that plane hit the Pentagon, when I would have thought the Capitol would be an easier -- and more vital -- target. But Gen. Ahmed's whereabouts may well have been the reason. And, being where he was, Gen. Ahmed was in a very good position to gauge the reaction of the U.S. government to 9/11.

Thanks for the heads up on this. More to come.
