A series of calls from Westerfield's cell phone in early February appeared to mirror his rambling motor home trip to the beaches of southern San Diego County and the Imperial Valley deserts, Verizon Wireless representative Greg Sheets testified.
Westerfield is charged with kidnapping and murdering Danielle. He could face the death penalty if he's convicted.
The prosecution also called a series of witnesses who were at Silver Strand State Beach on Saturday, Feb. 2. Westerfield said he drove his motor home to Silver Strand that morning.
Beverly Jean Askey of El Cajon testified that her family was already at the beach when a motor home that she later learned was Westerfield's pulled into a nearby space sometime before 10 a.m. It was a nice, sunny day she said, yet no one came out of the vehicle.
"He just pulled up, he pulled the front window closed and I never saw anyone again," Askey said.
Two other campers said they saw Westerfield's motor home and noticed that it appeared closed up.
Earlier, Angela Elkus, a resident of the Sabre Springs neighborhood where the van Dams and Westerfield lived, answered questions about the motor home. She said she had seen children playing around the vehicle three or four times when it was parked on the street, but she said they were mostly older children. She also talked about a visit to the van Dam home after Danielle disappeared.
Elkus said she had never been to the home before, but she brought food over for the family on the Sunday after the little girl disappeared. She said that the family's dog appeared "scared, shy, confused and perfectly still" when she came in the house, and it did not bark, she said. Legal analysts say prosecutors want to convince the jury that a stranger could have come into the house and taken Danielle without the dog barking.
BTW, is there going to be a new thread for today's testimony?
He is talking about events of waking up and finding DW close by and talking to him about getting him out of the sand. DUH.....sek is trying to draw out how weird DW behaved.
So......it is his 15 minutes of fame or sincerely wanting to help? One wonders !!!!!!
DW asked TTD if he was going to hook up to front of MH to pull it out. TTD said no, that could damage front end. TTD looked down and noted front air dam was already broken where someone had tried that 'sometime in the past'.
Walked out of the house, went over to the garage, opened the side door. No one in there. Mommy out at the bar, Daddy off 'visiting' a female neighbor.
Daddy comes flying back in the driveway, in hurry to get back before Brenda and friends come home. OOPS, Hit Danielle with his van. (gotta get rid of that van). Blood left on where she hit the garage door. Takes her in the garage. Figures out she is dead. What to do?
Hide the body , Mom will be home soon. Will get her to sleep after get rid of her friends, then can ditch the body somewhere for a while.
Later, he has the benefit of Bill Garcia directing the search teams. Garcia has mapped out where the most likely place DW would dump the body if he did it, so, gee, all of a sudden, the body is found in exactly that place. Don't know whether he relocated the body or had a friend do it, (maybe Barb). This way he gets double indemnity if she was murdered. RIGHT ?
Thanks.. it wasn't clarified from the TTD testimony. At least the part I heard.
I would like to believe in what you wrote, but the problem with it, is that her death would have been accidental, so Damon should have been able to notify the LE. Unless...he was very HIGH or Drunk, in which case, he would have been charged...hummmmm.

A person like Damon appears to be ? Willing to lie to police several times? NO, you think quick and see if you can find a patsy. You lie to the police, make up stories that will fit her somehow being kidnapped. You lie to your wife, friends. You get them out of the house and your wife to sleep to you can get rid of the body. You make up stories about the alarm, the dog needing to pee, gates open, doors open, blinds open, whatever it takes to cover your ass. Divorces can be really messy and cost you all your money (if you are the guy, normally).
So avoid that at all costs. Avoid going to jail too. Let some other sucker take the blame. The police will probably never find "the perp" cause there isn't one. Children go missing all the time, or are found dead and they never catch the guy, so this will probably work out the same. Police sure won't suspect you, you have friends on the police force, friends of the detectives, they will unknowingly provide you cover, so you feel pretty safe in going ahead with this.
