I don't think Paul intended to disqualify Jesus from church leadership. Do you?

I don't recall Jesus ever mentioning the marital status of his followers. And Jesus was not simply a church leader. He is the Risen Son of God. God with us.

Actually you just did. Jesus is married. The church is his bride. In following the doctrine of marriage in the Catholic church all priests must step down for they are in violation of this by being the bride of Christ
