I predict that this decade Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic Party nominee for president. While she may run in 2004, the likelihood is that she will make her bid in 2008.
Hillary begins with several playing field advantages. First, she enters the Democratic primaries with the solid support of blacks and feminists and strong backing from Hispanics and liberals.
In the Democratic Party, it is difficult to miss with that combination.
Another advantage she'll have is that in 2008 there will be a Republican primary at the same time as the Democratic contests.
With Bush likely to be re-elected in 2004, 2008 will see strong contests for the nominations in both parties. Why should this matter?
Because it means that the Independent voters will be divided between the two party primaries, just as they were in 2000.
If neither Bradley nor McCain had run and the Independents could have concentrated in either party's primary, neither Gore nor Bush would have been nominated. It was only because the Independent vote was divided that the favorite of the party's orthodox wing won in each case.
In 2008, they will be divided again, giving Hillary a strong edge.
And the general election?
Don't count her out. Most presidents run out of gas in their second terms. Count 'em none have succeeded since Teddy Roosevelt.
Woodrow Wilson? The League of Nations dragged him down.
FDR? Court packing cost him any power he held over Congress in his second term, he couldn't get anything passed.
Truman? Korea made him impotent politically.
Eisenhower? Two recessions drained him of power and led to a huge off-year Democratic win in 1958.
LBJ? Vietnam.
Nixon? Watergate.
Reagan? Iran-Contra. He lost the Senate in 1988.
Clinton? Impeachment.
History shows that second terms just don't work.
By Bush's second term, the war on terror will be running on fumes as the U.S. will have ousted Saddam, conquered al-Qaeda and, for the moment, neutralized the domestic threat.
Bush doesn't really have a domestic agenda other than his tax cuts. So look for Bush to run out of momentum as 2008 nears.
All of these factors favor Hillary for a 2008 presidential run. At that time she will present an activist, if liberal, alternative one that will be welcomed by the Democratic Party.

Editor's Note: Find out what straregy Hillary will use to get back in the White House. This is revealed in Dick Morris' best-selling book,"Power Plays: Win or Lose How History's Great Political Leaders Play the Game." You can get "Power Plays" Free or at a great price just click here.
I'm glad you asked. I did a parody of this several months ago where (to cut to the chase) a vote for the Republican candidate puts you into an endless "Are you SURE you want to vote for dirty air, children dying in our schools, old people unable to get medicine and blacks beaten in our streets? Click "yes" or "no"." loop.
You can answer your own question if you've ever gone to an ATM machine and was stuck with no acceptable options. Or have it time out and ask you to start all over again.
And I haven't even approached the scripts that could be written to make Republican votes count .5 or Democrat votes count twice. I think it will be even easier to commit fraud with these than with the old system. If it wasn't the Democrats would have tried to prevent them from happening.
Although I think their favorite stunt is the "you mail us your ballot and we'll get back to you about how it all turned out" trend going on in the Northwest. That one would be so easy to tinker and so difficult to catch it's surprising the Dirtycrats aren't lobbying for this to be mandatory all over the country.
He's betting the farm on Bush running out of steam in a Second Term and offering no real alternative to offer the country for a "third" and "fourth" Bush term.
That's where Morris is wrong. Bush has figured this out already. There's an easy way to beat the Hildebeast. Go right at her base vote. This is why I never worry about Hillary. Meet the Secret Weapon....

Besides the fact that she is a liar and a total fraud what else does she have? If you think she was a crook and a cheat while First Lady(?) just imagine what she would be like as president. The Clintons gave us 9/11 what do you think Hillary would give us?
I seem to remember that well...rm...and we're still trying to get over the Hitlerybeast!

On a side note, Hillary certainly ain't running in 2004. Predicting things far in the future is really stupid. If they're right they'll crow about it. If they're wrong we'll never hear about it.
Dick Morris, you just explained why X41 did not run for a second term. Oh, I know he was the Republican candidate, but he didn't run. His heart wasn't in it.
Considering that, what proof does anyone have that W will go for a second term? We're just assuming he will.
Look out! Hitlery knows the Bushes have a short attention span and she is ready to make a big fat move.
When we elected her, I realized New York was no longer my state, and I left for good.
Anyhow, even if she wins, it should be quite a show! My prediction is a Hillary Presidency will overshadow her husband's in criminal activity and global embarrassment. The only issue that the masses could ever be upset with her about is the economy if it takes a serious dive.
As sad as this sounds, I'm convinced this is how things happen in America. Just listen to Sean Hannity's "Man on the Street" episodes. The "average Joe" is a dolt who knows more about Britiney Spear's bellybutton than he knows about his national leaders or the taxes on his paycheck.
History is instructive here: When Clinton was elected governor of Arkansas the last time he made a solemn vow that if elected, he would not be seeking any other office till the end of term. In a matter of a few months after his election he announced his intentions to seek the presidency. When criticised about breaking his solemn pledge, he conducted a "Listening Tour" around the state and reported that the good citizens of Arkansas "tole him it was awright to break his pledge." The fact is that such a tour of the state probably never happened and if it did, most of those he "listened" to were Democrat Party Apparatchiks or nursing home residents suffering from senile dementia.
Be prepared to see this reenacted in NY.
