I thought that the Emancipation Proclamation was an amusing piece of propaganda(only freed slaves in the South).

You anti-southern bigots and racists are getting more rabid by the minute.

Just to remind you, when those you praised were finished with the south, they and their successors turned and committed genocide against the Indians (Native Americans) of the western parts of North American.

How do you justify that in your own narrow mind?

Some truth to this article, some idiocy. Not a lot of relevence.

A short, concise analysis--and in so few words. Good job!

Good reply, Clara.

We lost, they won - nothing to do about it 140 years later.

Well, not quite true - we can do what we can to keep them up there. :)

Naw, there will never be a shortage of enemies to attack around here even if some are obsessed with those from 150 years ago. These folks haven't even started looking under their beds yet.

Don't get me started on Thomas Jefferson.

Walter Williams (subbing for Rush) and his guest spent an hour today discussing this very subject.

... And the excuse for posting this piece of tripe, devoid of facts or logic is?

Just because someone takes the same side as you, doesn't make his screeds worth reading or circulating.

History is indeed written by the winners.....and we are all losers as a result.

The Union soldiers in the battle actually fought against self-determination; it was the Confederates who fought for the right of people to govern themselves.

1/3 of the Confederate population was not only not allowed to vote, they were enslaved and given no human rights whatsoever. And despite the hollering, it is quite obvious to any student of history that a desire to protect this 3-4 billion dollars in capital from any possible threat was the basic reason behind secession.

Makes the total 1860 US budget of $60 million look appropriately tiny in comparison.

Lincoln was a great man, one of our two greatest presidents. This is a bunch of revanchist nonsense with logic and name-calling redolent of the "scholars" you'd find in Saudi Arabia.

Hmm. Has a village reported their idiot as missing?

I think there's enough idiot in Mr. Holland to supply a whole state-full of villages.
