I would probably dispute that judging from what I see around here ---they seem to have a stranger plan than simple reconquistation, they will continue to demand money and other benefits from Washington but culturally and politically the area goes back to them. In the border counties, it's rarer and rarer to hear English spoken or much evidence of assimilation into American culture, "anglo" politicians can forget it, but there are plenty of demands for welfare programs and federal government "solutions".
