As a technician, then an instrumentation engineer, then a startup engineer, I have helped to build and commission the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant, Cholla #4 coal-fired plant in Joe-City, AZ.

I am available immediately.

Funny thing, though. I just did a search on monster.com. There is not one power plant startup engineer job listed in the entire united states.

There aren't any jobs for start up engineers right now. The industry has adapted to lean times. Usually the project engineer has to change hats and go commision his own project. It takes weeks to read, evaluate, and make proposals on rfq's, of which only a few result in any work. This is due to understaffing and heavy competion for contracts. I've worked at two companies specializing in power plant in the last four years and both have had lay offs.

Amazing! You should be as busy as a one-armed guy with the hives. Instead you are idled while our country runs low on power capacity. What has gone wrong? Why aren't you working building power plants?

From the obvious self-destruction model of "deregulation", Kali style, to post 9/11 loss of terrorism insurance, power plants will hardly be built. Any construction will depend on government loan guarantees/subsidies.

With the pantheistic worshipping envirocommies' economy disruption tactics merged with stupid and/or corrupt politicans/bureaucrats enforcing self-destructive regulations, why would any investor build anything?

American nuke power plant designs will have to be totally reworked given the needed defensible target perameter. Right now a 24/7 platoon strength unit with armor, missle Humvees, active on-site air defense, and serious physical barriers are needed, but not yet on site.

Only our socialists have the answer. When government creates a problem, government is the only solution. Bureaucrats hire even more people to help them still not do their jobs. Government will build its own power plants, as the power industry is effectively nationalized.

The Office of Personnel Mangement may have your job listing as perhaps a GS-11.

Nuclear power plant engineers are now flipping hamburgers. It is such a waste of talented people. If lawyers have their careers derailed like that, we would never see the end of it. Engineers, however have no clouts
