The armed pilot issue is a powerful wedge. I would also challenge every gun control zealot to advertise publicly with a sign, "This house is gun free. No need for criminals here to be violent." Dare them. Challenge them. See if they are willing to put their money where their mouth is. If they are correct in their beliefs, they would be more safe, right?
