Why is it that so many of these forums seem to be obsessed with FR?

Provocative posts like the one at the top of this thread are part of the reason. The relationship appears to be symbiotic.

I thought this thread had been posted because of a rather paranoid, anti-FR, email campaign to multiple FR members.
