Store owner's gun drives off robbers

The Springfield drive-through owner who shot at two would-be robbers Saturday night, possibly wounding one, said he
But what about this- He came out of the office as the first robber ran through the drive-through. Conley told the man to stop and fired a warning shot.
If I'm reading this right, the goblin had left the store- might have been a better idea to let him go- and certainly, if you're going to engage a guy holding a shotgun w/a .22, don't fire a warning shot...
Glad the good guys are okay, and a bad guy got dinged, but this guy opened himself up to getting shot, and, depending on the DA/juries in his locale, criminal/civil heartaches.
A far better solution is to keep a .40 or a .45 handy, practice with it, or even better join IDPA and practice there! Then you could go for a center mass hit and be more confident that when you hit him, he won't just "stand up and limp away..."
Yup- but even with my Kimber in my hand, if the bad guys are running away, I'm holding my position and calling the cops. Unless they're carrying off my first born, I'm not chasing trouble once it's out the door.
