Right. Campaign finance laws didn't fix anything. Instead of giving one big check to the national parties, you give 50 smaller checks to the state parties. No net change in the way money is raised or campaigns are conducted. Just another sham, another attempt to pull the wool over our eyes, another attempt by politicians to make it look like they are doing something.
Not that I'm complaining about the effect -- I think you should be able to give money to anyone you want at any time -- but I don't like the shenanigans.

It isn't about money, anyway. It's about us. One person, one vote. Mass media, whatever else money buys, will never replace testimony. Maybe you'll call me foolish, but I still trust the good judgement of my fellow Americans.
