I think it's highly probable that Khalid will be directly connected to Jose Padilla in mainstream reporting within the next day or week. According to several news reports, Padilla was in Karachi in March meeting with "senior al Qaeda leaders" at the same time that this LA Times story puts Khalid in the same area.
