Any person who was honorably discharged from the military prior to September 1980 is an eligible veteran. If you were discharged after September 1980, you must meet the following criteria: You were honorably discharged and You completed at least 24 consecutive months of active duty (exceptions include discharges for medical reasons, or discharges for hardship) or completed the full period for which you were called or ordered to active duty.
