June 27, 2002 -- IT'S like "The Emperor's New Clothes" - suddenly Yasser Arafat stands naked to the world as a terrorist.
President Bush dared to say what most of the world, Arabs included, already believed to be the truth about Arafat - that he's corrupt and traffics with terrorists - and overnight, everything looks different.

Do we see a pattern here? As after 9/11, going into Afghanistan, Bush really can demonstrate leadership. (I wish more of this would show up in his domestic approach, but maybe it will -- he did for a while seem to be giving Arafat way too many "last" chances!)
I think that's called giving him enough rope to hang himself.
I sure do. Bush (like Reagan) is unafraid to make moral distinctions.
Reagan said Communism = EVIL.......
The Eurosnobs and Liberals went bananas.
GW Bush said Terrorists = EVIL........
and the same crowd said: "YOU CAN'T SAY THAT!"
Michael Medved wrote the greatest article for USA TODAY recently, where he said Hollywood and Liberals are afraid to condemn Arabs, Islam, or the like because that would mean that Judeo-Christianity might have to be "good, or at least better."
That, they cannot abide.
And also said Arafat = Diplomat and still would if it wasn't for Israel showing him what has been common knowledge for decades that Arafat is a terrorist.
That's a dramatic change, because much recent U.S. foreign policy assumed that dictators can help control chaos - that was one reason why Bush's dad decided against trying to oust Iraq's Saddam Hussein.
I find that statement nonsensical.
Coop--good point...
