Hmm, transport a beam of light a meter away in the blink of an eye, eh? Sounds like something I could do with a flashlight! They'd better be prepared to show that this is for real, sounds a bit like the cold fusion thing of a few years ago.

However, I do believe that one day it will be done. Imagine the custom recliner you could order for Super Bowl CDXVI. It would have a transporter built into the seat, so you'd never have to get up to go to the bathroom, no matter how much beer you drank. Sort of a "transportapotty"!

In an odd way, one might wonder if todays Sci-Fi is actually the futures Sci-Fact. One could also assume that if time machines in the future actually existed, what better way to pass on knowledge. Yes, one might wonder just that if one was inclined to. :)

I wouldn't bet on that. Every Australian I've known in the US that sees a Fosters ad on TV starts laughing; they say Fosters has about as much cachet in Oz as Schlitz or Pabst Blue Ribbon does here.
