CAIR ACTION ALERT #335

OPPOSE SANCTIONS BILL THAT HARMS AMERICANS AND SYRIANS

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 6/20/02) - CAIR is urging on Muslims and other people of conscience to take a few minutes and contact their elected representatives in opposition to a new counterproductive bill being considered by Congress, the "Syria Accountability Act of 2002."

The House bill number is HR4483 and the Senate bill number is S2215. They are nearly identical in terms of imposing possible trade sanctions and downgrading of diplomatic relations. The proposed legislation is not in America's best interest. It is opposed by the president and the State Department.

SEE: "U.S.-Syria Relations Not Quite as Cold" http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A13898-2002Jun19.html

The "Syria Accountability Act" seeks to impose sanctions on Syria and American companies seeking to trade with this important regional player. Sanctions will hurt American businesses and Syria's growing middle class most strongly.

The legislation, if passed, would:

1) further isolate Syria, 2) damage America's image in the Arab and Muslim world, 3) restrict President Bush's flexibility in dealing with a fluid political situation, and 4) generally harm efforts to bring peace and stability to the region.

The original sponsor of the bill in the House was Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-TX). Rep. Armey recently (5/1/02) made a public call for the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. On MSNBC's "Hardball," host Chris Matthews had the following dialogue with Rep. Armey:

MATTHEWS: Have you ever told George Bush, the president from your home state of Texas, that you think the Palestinians should get up and go and leave Palestine and that's the solution? ARMEY: I'm probably telling him that right now. MATTHEWS: Well, just to repeat, you believe that the Palestinians who are now living on the West Bank should get out of there? ARMEY: Yes.

ACTION REQUESTED: (As always, be POLITE.) Visit http://capwiz.com/cair/home/ to contact your representative and senator (Write your own letter or use the sample provided.) and ask them to oppose the "Syria Accountability Act of 2002."

Gee, I guess "occupation" is only bad if Israel is doing it. If its Syria occupying Lebanon, that doesn't even warrant sanctions.

The shameful Assad family of Syria has long been associated with international narcotics trafficking. It has also been on the State Department list of countries involved in state-supported terrorism, and has been for more than a decade. Because the Assad are ruthless and members of the Alawite minority, they hold power only because they control the military. Most able Christian Syrians have long since said goodbye, leaving the country to the Muslim scum. It is past time to shut the place down.

Been talkin' to Clinton? Sounds Clintoneese to me!
I don't see any "ethnic cleansing" here. He just asked the terrorists to leave. Sounds good to me.

Well, that's why they're called the "Council for American-Islamic Relations". They aren't for America. They see a dichotomy between American and Islamic, and they advocate "Islamic" side. The hyphenated name implies two sides.

Compare the "Arab-American Anti-Defmation Committee." The hyphenated name intends one untied group, Arab-Americans.

The hyphen is not insignificant. CAIR is a Hamas founded group, rabid anti-Americans. They are strongly Saudi supported, no doubt why our own State Department legitimizes them with privileges.

Indeed. I'm very, very sorry we will be losing him.

BTW, this is a bit of shocker, and not mentioned by the wahhabis, but the sponsor of the corresponding Senate bill is Babs Boxer.

(My apologies for mentioning Boxer during the dinner hour.)

My Christian Lebanese wife has just told CAIR to take a hike after having some rather unpleasant business dealings with them. The look on the guy's face was priceless when she told him to get lost and never come back.

As for the Syrians, with the exception of the priest at the Orthadox Chruch, who is a prince of a man, these bastards are the absolute worst of any group of Arabs I have had contact with in the Atlanta area. They are scum of the earth and every other perjorative one could come up with. I wish the Feds would swoope down and take them off our streets for good. On the other hand, most all the Iraqis I have met are truly a pleasure to know. It's rather strange how the most open, educated, and engaging of all the Arabs, with the exception of the Christian Lebanese, got stuck with Saddam.
