Many here were saying the same thing afterwards, that the debris field seemed to indicate a shoot down that was justifiable, check the stories from the day out.

In deed they were. It was almost an established fact here that it was shot down. Bush was probably preparing to explain it to the American people as they uncovered those cell phone calls.

I don't know whether the plane was shoot down or not, but I would like to think that if it was that Bush would go on TV and with tears in his eyes apologize to the families and call the people of the flight heros as we all know they are.
