I would like to ask whether someone in your state should be allowed to torture their own dogs. After all, it's a mere possession, and according to the libertarian ideologues, it's all just nobody's business what anyone else does in the privacy of their own homes.

Fair point. Libertarians have no basis for objecting to animal torture right here in the United States. None. They might be personally outraged by it, but they are forbidden by their own ideology from doing anything about it.

You'd sit in judgement of another individual? Pass judgement? Inflict your will upon another? What if the charge was animal cruelty and the only bad thing to happen to him is he is arrested and brought to trial? Why is the law against cruelty wrong while sitting on ones hands in a jury okay?

My oversized 29 pound Boston Terrier is the same way. She's the best dog I've ever had. That being said, those who eat dog in Korea do not eat the family pets. Dogs to most Chinese and Koreans are not revered as they are to most of us Americans.

It's still the case. The dark skin tends to expose the defects on the body (of Asians). Also dark skin is usually rough and light skin feels tender and soft.

Dark skin represented the workers that had to work in the sun; light skin meant you were well off and did not have to work. It's a class thing.

Not neccessarily. Many imperial maids or concubines of wealthy people were from the working class in ancient China. They were chosen solely according to the Chinese aesthetic stardard, not their class backgrounds, so outdoor working doesn't neccessarily make your skin dark.

I can't understand how any human being could inflict this kind of suffering to any innocent creature, especially for the stated purpose of "boosting their virility". Seems to me to be an act of a coward, not one of a man.

I was thinking of going to teach in Korea but I have a German Rotweiller that goes everywhere with me. There is no way I would take him to Korea after reading about this. My poor baby would probably get stolen, beaten and eaten. Dispicable!

Pigs are smarter than either of them and taste much better. If you're hungry enough and poor enough, you'll eat anything.

I don't know of any Koreans or Chinese that eat dogs, but there are a lot of Koreans and Chinese I don't know. I'm now mostly vegeterian but I don't begrudge what they eat but I agree that they should be humane about it.

My brother use to travel to China 30 years ago to buy Chinese antiques. He said he never knew what he was eating half the time -- ruff, ruff -- meow, meow.
