So you don't believe that God is the creator of all things and all things have a purpose?

That is not an accurate statement of my beliefs. Such simplistic statements are more effective at clouding the truth than revealing it. Any theology that can be defined in 'bumper sticker' terms isn't going to suit me very well.

I think some things are the result of our living in a fallen world.

If God had created AIDS to punish homosexuals, every homosexual on the planet would be dead already and Ryan White and Kim Bergalis would still be alive.

You may be right but that does not make me feel any better. Now as for what I said, that makes me at least giggle.

In the physical world, the consequences resulting from poor choices (like jumping off a bridge) are usually immediately evident. The consequences resulting from poor spiritual choices (like telling a lie) are usually delayed.

This case seems to be something in between.
