State Can't Tax Away Budget Woes

The state House -- as expected -- has adopted a tax hike package to meet the state's revenue shortfall for the current and coming state fiscal years. The state Senate is expected to approve much of the package next week.

Eliminating state subsidies for horse shows would yield another $20,000. These are a few of the possibilities for spending cuts. They aren't pleasant.

Whew, if they keep cutting items like subsidies for horse shows where will we all be? Horses will be starving in the streets!

Yeah, here's another one:

Johnson Controls wants to move their HQ. They've told Michigan State Officials that if Johnson Controls doesn't get $54 million in tax abatements, they'll move out of state.

So, another item to cut is this business welfare obscenity of $54 million.
