"Bloods: An Oral History of the Vietnam War by Black Veterans" by Wallace Terry. The chapter about the patrol finding an American soldier who had been captured and was still alive just about made me throw up. What an awful decision to have to make. Talk about a real horror of war!

I couldn't recall that incident so checked my pb copy of "Bloods." I skipped over the incident before, sensing what was coming. But this time I did read it through. It was as bad as you said. It was Specialist 4 Arthur E. "Gene" Woodley. Jr.
I wonder if "Bloods" is required reading at our War College, and in training combat officers. It should be.
