For a really "grate" time, join us this weekend for our big Friday night Support our Troops Rally and Saturday Tailgate Party at Woodward Park in Fresno. We're hoping that as many California FReepers as possible can join us and perhaps some from further away. Come to California, the land of milk & honey and fruits & nuts, rally, and party with us, then stay a few days to visit Yosemite or Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Parks. Bring your flags, signs and the whole family!

The Rally is at the corner of Blackstone and Shaw in north Fresno and starts at 4:00 p.m. We will rally till we drop then meet at a local restaurant for dinner and refreshments.

We have reserved tables on Saturday at the Sunset View Picnic Shelter (see arrow on map below) from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. We will begin arriving at around 2:00 p.m.

The entrance to Woodward Park is on Audubon Drive off Freeway 41 at Friant Road.

Take the Friant Road exit off 41 in north Fresno. Continue on Friant Road two signal lights to Audubon Drive. Turn left on Audubon Drive and you should see the entrance to Woodward Park just a few hundred feet up the road and to the right.

You can also get to Friant Road from Blackstone. It's about three or four miles north of our Shaw and Blackstone rally point.

The park road is one way so after paying the $2.00 entry fee, follow the road all the way around the park until you see "Sunset View Picnic Shelter." We will have a "Free Republic Tailgate Rally" sign at the entrance to our site.

1. Anyone who will need a room and wants us to check on a block of rooms, please notify JustAmy.

2. Mama_Bear is maintaining the guest list. Please let her know how many will be attending with you.

3. Cool Guy is planning activities for Saturday. Also he will be taking a survey to see who is interested in a Sunday trip to Yosemite.

4. JustAmy will be coordinating the menu. Fresno Chapter will supply the main dish, the drinks (sorry no alcohol) and the paper products. Anyone wishing to chip in to help cover the costs, FReepmail JustAmy. Local area FReepers can bring salads, side dishes, etc., if you wish. JKPhoto volunteered to be the barbequer-in-chief (he was too slow to take a step backwards).

5. Dress will be summer (hot!) casual.

6. Ping your friends and lets have a party!

7. Anything we have forgotten, please contact us.

8. Since we will not be able to get our tables until 3:00, Cool Guy suggests a change of clothes (he is planning water games!)

Since these rallies are so much fun, we are starting this week's rally at 4:00 and will stay until the last traitor leaves their corner (usually about 7:00) For all who cannot be there by 4:00, we will see you when you get there! Drive carefully.

My husband, "jkphoto", has made up some nifty nametags that are sure to become collectors items. He has personalized these nametags for everyone on the "yes" list. If you want one, you've got to get yourself on the list and come to the tailgate party. If you are on the list, your name tag will be waiting and ready for you when you arrive. :-)

He is putting only the screen name on the tags, people can write in their first name underneath if they want. :-)

Count me in for dinner but I'm bringing lemonade to the street corner. Just noticed that the weather service increased the temperature forcast to 108F on Friday at 6p.m. (probably closer to 112 next to the curb).

The lemonade or anything refreshing will be needed. I am bringing water and will bring a few extra bottles. We are also planning to have shade so we can get out of the sun for a few minutes.
If it's 108, we probably won't have many traitors to protest.

Sorry that I haven't written sooner. My computer crashed the other day, and I just got it back. I am afraid I won't be able to make it out to Fresno.
