I thought Al-Arian was fired from USF. Is he on some kind of paid leave? That would be very disturbing news if true.
He's been suspended for disrupting the university. The final verdict will be issued before the fall semester -- and university groups have been petitioning the president of SFU to re-instate him under the umbrella of "academic freedom." He has yet to be convicted of anything, in spite of all the evidence. I wouldn't be surprised if he is re-instated.
