Yet another success for "common sense gun control"...

I think the English stats are taking poor Wales down with it. :) I think the murder rate is much lower in Britain than the US, but I could be wrong. I seem to recall some flap about that.

The US, by contrast, has managed to reduce its crime rates, despite its reputation for street robberies and shootings. Experts say this is the result of a committed policy of ploughing resources into training prisoners, finding them jobs after release and then monitoring them to ensure they do not reoffend.Riiiiiiiiiight. Who's your expert, Ms. Goodchild? Michael Bellesiles?

Experts say this (the US' lower crime rate) is the result of a committed policy of ploughing resources into training prisoners, finding them jobs after release and then monitoring them to ensure they do not reoffend. Maybe it's because over here a criminal stands a serious chance of getting his head blown off by an armed citizen.

I didn't read the whole thing, but isn't that what always results from gun control?

No mention of the fact that we in the US are still armed...
That just maybe that has something to do with it...
Every time they restrict guns more the more the crime goes up... It is amazing to watch the denial of such basic and obvious relationships because the facts don't coincide with their emotions... I guess that is the very definition of a superstitious backward people...

If "Old Blighty", particularly London has a higher crime rate than we do it is time for some serious reflection on BOTH sides of the "pond".

This week, the Home Office will publish its White Paper outlining radical reform of the criminal justice system, in part to curb spiralling street crime and to punish more offenders. One could hope they would give the guns back to the people.

The next reforms to take place in the U.K. will be quite similar to those used in that great Kubrick film:
"A Clockwork Orange"Forced mental reprogramming for all of societies undesireables....start with the criminals and finish with the gunowners. These rest are already sheeple.

United States will soon own title/crown thanks to the fat police and their War on Obesity, or is that the food police and War on Junk Food? Sigh... I just can't keep track of all these police-State wars against people.

Well, it's not just socialism.
Let's face it, the real culprit is "diversity".

"The findings are expected to cause further embarrassment to the Prime Minister, Tony Blair, who has pledged to have street crime under control by September."Mr. Blair should take a closer look at the Swiss and their crime rates. I read somewhere that Hitler, the guy who was nuts enough to invade Russia in the winter, was easily persuaded NOT to invade Switzerland, where every man has a military style weapon when he's enlisted in the national guard (and I think they let him keep it if he wants to when he retires), and every home has a year's supply of food and water.
I'll bet no one dares to be so rude as to pick the pocket of a guy carrying a machine gun.

Isn't she one of the love children from James Bond and "Pussy Galore"? Or was that "Tattoo Me Quickley"?

It's very interesting to find
both Great Britian and Australia mentioned by name as leading crime nations. Let's see now...what do those two nations have in common that might affect crime stats? Oh, yeah...that's right, they had their guns taken away.

Why do the British want to raise crime and leave their citizens defenseless?
To: blam
This is great to read, especially coming from a UK paper. For yearsI have debated with Europeans who always use a "high crime in the US" augement in thier debates (usually as to why the US needs to stop allowing legal ownership of guns)now I wonder what argument they will use.
