I'm glad I don't watch that cartoon network anymore.

A friend of mine recently underwent a procedure called a Sigmoidoscopy - spelling may be incorrect - and his doctor asked him if he wanted to watch the procedure on the TV monitor and he declined stating that he didn't watch CNN, quite appropriately.

ABC radio also has been trying to work in Bush's name when they report about this on the hour, between installments of Rush.

Notice the "deer in the headlights" look on Bush's face.

Notice the "deer in the headlights" look on Bush's face.

Don't discount CNN's ability to manufacture that "look."

The biggest market news for the day was that the Dow rallied for a gain of 400 points. If Clinton had given a speech and the market gained 400 points, they'd be calling it the "President Clinton Rally." Bush gives a speech, the market gains 400 points, but he gets no credit. The media will not report it but today the market experienced a "President Bush Rally" rally of 400 points.

With all due respect if things don't pick up soon W is history. What's ironic is that the economy (or the mistaken impression that George H.W. Bush wasn't doing any thing) derailed his dad.

I am a Bush supporter but this is what I think will happen if the economy tanks.

So long as the War on Terrorism is going strong, he's in.

My take is this... the economy is not bad right now, it is the stock market that is tanking. We are seeing the results of a bull market that was extremely overvalued during the Internet revolution.

Right now, there is a lag and reality has started to set in for investors. We will see the market continue to drop until the end of the year, I would not be surprised to see the Dow at 6000 by Christmas.

Enter 2003. New technologies will help bring back an economy that has been growing slowly over the past 24 months, and we will again see a boom, although not quite as good as the 90s. Companies will finally break down and purchase new hardware and software, which they have been holding off on for a while.

I know in the case of my company, we have already placed an order for 5000 Dell units to be delivered in Q1 2003.

I hope you are right. In this week's Barron's some are predicting a depression.

What kind of new technologies do you forsee? I agree that technology will bring the U.S. out, I just don't know when it will be. Could take years, but I hope next year will be it.

Well, the most exciting technology right now will be 3G wireless. New phones and a new wireless network is just around the corner.
