At the time the Union Banking Corporation made millions of dollars in loans to various German steel and coal-mining corporations, the Social Democrats controlled Germany. This was the equivalent of the British Labor Party or American Democratic Party. The Nazis were a sad and pathetic, tiny minority party with 3% of the vote.
The armed forces of Germany at that time could have been easily crushed by even the Dutch, if they had been left alone to do it. Germany had a 100,000-man army without any tanks or air force, and a tiny navy.
Also, the Nazis were carefully keeping their intentions regarding world conquest and extermination of the Jews as the most carefully guarded secrets. No one could have foreseen that the companies that were receiving huge loans from UBC would end up producing the steel, explosives and coal that fueled a war machine on a campaign of world conquest and genocide.
Those loans were made in the late 1920s to a peaceful democracy in central Europe that was a fourth rate military power. Blaming Herbert Walker and Prescott Bush for the rise of the Nazis is nothing but guilt by association, innuendo and smear.
