WASHINGTON, Jul 19, 2002 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- The following is a statement from DNC Chairman McAuliffe on Vice President Cheney and Halliburton:
"Vice President Cheney should explain to the people of Houston why his company misled investors while he was CEO of Halliburton. The people of Houston know all too well the painful results of corporate accounting tricks.
"Vice President Cheney should spend more time explaining his business practices and the accounting tricks he used as CEO of Halliburton and less time raising money for the Republican Party.
"Restoring investor faith in corporations is vital to getting the economy moving in the right direction. The administration has to come clean on questions surrounding their business practices before the American people take them seriously on corporate responsibility."

"Vice President Gore should spend more time explaining his time at the Buddhist temple raising money for the Democratic Party."
I'm POSITIVE this is what Terry said about Algore. Right?
Right?

I don't recall "The People" asking a whole lot of questions here, in regards to the Pres and V-Pres business practices. I think the Dems have asked a lot of the questions, though...
What a bunch of losers...
To: drc43
Perhaps ole Terry can explain how he came to have all those ill gotten gains from his Global Crossing connections. How he came to give Gephardt an unsecured loan from his bank.
Oh never mind, the man has not told the truth is his lifetime and won't be starting now.

THIS will backfire....just like ENRON - why don't we start asking McAuliffe a few things about his "bank" in 1988, and those shares in global crossing, I believe, which netted him about 13 million, was it......yeah....the above the board are attacked, while the snakes writhe....someone is going to get their snakey head cut off and I don't think it will be Cheney. The adults are in charge now....

Wasn't there some shady, insider trading (Hilliary-like) deal Terry McAuliffe did with Global Crossing before it went the way of Enron?
He's doing a Clinton, alright. Acusing the Republicans of things that he has done--which are even worse.
Why do the Republicans let him get away with that????

Full attack mode.... looks like the rats are scared ... maybe payback time around the corner?

I'm not so sure.
Their attacks here will keep a bunch of folks who would normally vote Green in the fold for 2002 and possibly 2004. The Democrats have been playign scorched earth for a long time. If the GOP holds the House and takes the Senate, we have a shot. But if the Dems retain ANY political power, we will be in trouble. They will slash and burn.
Bush may have to discard the "new tone" and soon. We have to call this for what it is, even if it requires harsh terms.

"Why do the Republicans let him get away with that????" I wish I knew...perhaps it is just too far from election time to blow off all the ammo...more effective when folks are paying attention...

If I'm not mistaken Halliburton is headquartered in Dallas, not Houston. McAuliffe can't even get that right.

Where the he## is the head of the RNC?!! He should have fired back immediately with "In the true interests of investigating REAL scandals, I challenge DNC chairman Terrence McCauliffe to explain to the American people the circumstances of his insider training on Global Crossing equities, netting him $18 million from a $100,000 investment."
Does this party have any juevos left?

It is time for a grass roots pettion campaign asking the Justice Department and Congress to investigate what McCrook knew, and when he knew it. We cannot wait for republicans to do it...only PRESSURE will cause the media and Congress to look into what this low life crook has done.

Where the he## is the head of the RNC?!! The announcement just came out today. At least give Marc a chance to type something up. :-)

Howdy
Tens of millions of illegal Chinese dollars line clintons pockets, the clinton SEC allowed corporate fraud to run rampant, the clinton tax cut demoished the Reagan boom, clintons leadership materially aided and abetted al qaida's mass murder of American citizens, and still these barbarians have the gall to smear honest people with the tar so abundantly avalable on their own persons.
clinton brought us corruption, poverty and war.
They should be confronted with that immutable fact every time they open their filthy mouths.

The Clinton tax
increase please change your post
Otherwise you are exactly correct. Your second paragraph is entirely appropriate.

Howdy
Oops, pardon me. clintons harshly punishing American citizens with the greatest, most abusive tax increase in planetary history ended the economic boom which began with the Reagan tax cut.
Thanks!

Anybody want to ship McAuliffe his box of stones for throwing from within his glass house?
