Dutch Politician Fortuyn Buried In Italy
De Telegraaf ^ | July 20 2002

PROVESANO - In Provesano this Saturday around 19.00 the funeral service for Pim Fortuyn ended. The service lasted about an hour and was held partly in Dutch and partly in Italian. After the service the burial took place of the politician on the nearby cemetary in the Northern Italian village.

Brother Marten Fortuyn spoke at the end of the service, saying he hoped that the rest in Provesano would return soon after the funeral. "The show is over. I hope the family and the people in Provesano will get back the rest they deserve."

Marten Frotuyn also commented on the wrong image brought forward about Pim Fortuyn. "In the past there was a wrong image brought forward about you. But your friends worked hard during the past months to correct that image. I think an image has formed that truly represents you."

Jan 't Hooft, a good friend of Fortuyn, held a short speech. In that speech he said that Fortuyn left behind an 'ear-deafening silence'. "It would have been so nice with Pim as president. Because he surely would have become it."

The service was help by two prietst. Vicaris-general H. Verbakel held the Dutch part. He traveled with the family and some good friends of Fortuyn with the plane to Italy.

Your fellow countrymen are to be commended for the valiant way they fought and persevered against the onslaught of verbal and physical violence from the left and have moved the whole European Union towards a more realistic policy in respect to immigration.

Can you do anything to help us here in the United States, now? ;^)

I got very bad news for you people. Ad Melkert, Pim Fortuyns most bitter rival from the PvdA (socialists), just got himself a job at the Worldbank in New York! Yes, instead of lessening the number of salon-elite socialists, you will get one of the worst of them over! He is a leftie of the worst kind: lying, self-enrichment, pretending to care for the people, just name it.

It seems like I have to come over to kick his sorry @ss now.

Why did it take so long from his death to have the funeral? And I was
wondering why he would be buried in Italy instead of The Netherlands?

episode. I know he was murdered but do not know what he stood for, etc.

There were quite a few articles posted here on FR about him. He was the
top high profile conservative in The Netherlands. FReeper knighthawk might be
able to direct you to a couple of good primers (background) articles on Pim
Fortuyn and his politics, etc. Here is a link to Fortuyn articles posted here on
