"...“The map was probably created at the time when the Earth’s magnetic pole situated in the today’s area of Franz Josef Land, while this was exactly 120 million years ago, - professor Chuvyrov says. – The map we have is beyond of traditional perception of mankind and we need a long time to get used to it. We have got used to our miracle. At first we thought that the stone was about 3,000 years. Though, that age was gradually growing, till we identified the shells ingrained in the stone to sign some objects. Though, who could guarantee that the shell was alive while being ingrained in the map? The map’s creator probably used a petrified find.”

Nothing to get excited about. They've simply found the seed from which the area was terra-farmed.

Pretty cool. But you know what they say over there: There is no news in Izvestia and no truth in Pravda.

I once heard a Nobel award scientist talk about OOPART - out of placve and relative time. Stuff like spark plugs, etc found to be thousands of years old. Interesting stuff.

This has been the subject of a couple of threads already. It's one of those Fortean objects, it just doesn't fit and we don't know what to make of it. It might also be a hoax.

Looks as though old Vera Solovieva needs a little work on her English. One should translate from one's weaker language into one's stronger language.

Yep, tey could do an aeronautical survey, but they made their maps of stone. Sure sounds believable to me.

You don't need an aircraft or spacecraft to build a relief map. This has been done ever since geometry. All it takes is time, manpower and an earlier development of simple geometry and survey tools. This sounds like someone had a grand vision for the Urals that could not be executed at the time. This happens every day. We just don't run across the remains of such old visionary thought very often.

If you want to get a "little" more bizzar--it is proof of time travel.

Hmmm, the latter, or there are many county courthouses that are hundreds of millions of years old.

Alexander Chuvyrov, being physicist, has got into the habit of entrusting only to results of investigation. While today there are such facts.

I, being Freeper, find this also of the utmost interest.

Another piece of evidence indicating serious probems with even our most basic concepts of history/archaeology. Either that, or another piece of evidence indicating serious problems with our ability to accurately date old objects.
