I'm reading her book right now. Fascinating stuff. And to its credit, NPR has interviewed Dr. Swain on its talk show The Connection.

I think we'll see more of this view as more and more blacks "make" it, at least from the blacks who have "made" it and not from the black thugs who make a profit from race baiting. It continues to be a fair observation that any black who has "made" it has done so only because of his/her skin color. It is certainly true of this professor.

That is what affirmative action requires; "you didn't get the job/vacancy because you were the best available, you got it because you were black and you kept it, not because of your performance, but because you were black." The first successful blacks probably didn't mind, especially if it were true. But, hard working blacks who may have followed a path, who have accomplished something the old fashioned way must be pained by this popular belief.

"She recommends that the country create a new, ''race-neutral'' policy to lift the disadvantaged out of poverty."

An amazing woman!

It's about attitude.

Carol Swain, a shining example and is a name I will remember and read more about.

she believes she has earned everything she has received through hard work, a sharp mind and blissful ignorance of any notions that she might be inferior or incapable.

It's nice to believe that, however she has been the beneficiary of programs that were only available to her because of her race, and so I think her idea that she "earned" things that were in fact given to her is an erroneous idea. But I'm glad she is seeing the light on the racist evil that is affirmative action.

"Swain also thinks the white nationalists make some good points, and she feels society's embrace of multiculturalism in the past 20 years has given them cover to create their own hyphenated interest group, ''European-Americans.'' She calls white nationalism ''the monster that identity politics created.''

I've never heard of this "white nationalism" (though I'm sure we will be hearing more of it now), but I'm not ready to give her the Freeper Good Guy of the Week Award either. Did anyone notice her denounce multiculturalism as a "monster"? Uh-Uh. "European Americans" and this so-called "white nationalism ''are "the monster that identity politics created.''

Affirmative action, in my opinion, is the biggest barrier to black self-respect there is. Blacks are fully capable, as are we all, of succeeding in this world with all of the wonderful and good gifts God gave them. Affirmative action is an insult to them.

I've never heard of this "white nationalism"

Do a web search on it. You will be surprised.
