Ooooh! Excellent theory! I like it. I said something very similar late last week- that Clinton knew what was going on and figured Gore would win and cover it all up. Today, I said that it is entirely possible that the books were cooked for the sole reason to falsely mislead the American public into, one, thinking the economy was actually better than it was, and two, to make Clinton look like the savior- all the while allowing corporations to reap the benefits.

The President wasn't about to say, "yeah, clinton is dirty - it's all his fault." This President uses different ways than most of us do. He gets his point across in a subtle manner. I knew exactly what he meant, too. He's basically saying that while the commander-in-chief was busy jerking off in the Oval Office sink, the world was going to hell in a handbasket. Subtle...I love him.

I didn't think you were serious! If you are, I'm concerned. The revelation of corporate corruption is the BEST thing for the markets and if you disagree, then you are not an educated investor nor one who should be in the market. If you think this is bad, perhaps you should brush up on your history from 1928-1938. The scandals involving business at that time would make you see some amazing parallels. And if you don't know what this term means, look it up and study then get back to me:

     Mr. Rubin and William Harrison, the chairman of J.P. Morgan, in particular sought leniency from the credit agencies because they were desperately trying to arrange an eleventh-hour merger between Enron and Dynegy Inc. that might have saved the company and earned them $90 million in fees, the lawsuit contends.
     "These prestigious banks and law firms used their skills and professional reputation to help Enron executives shore up the company's stock price and create a false appearance of financial strength and profitability which fooled the public into investing billions of dollars," said James Holst, general counsel for the lead plaintiff, the University of California's pension fund.
