In the past, Sharpton has admitted wearing a wire and allowing the government to tap his home phone, but he now denies that he was a snitch. "The question is: Why would the government say that?" Sharpton said yesterday. "If they have an agreement with me, where is it?"
Gee, what happened to the media record of that event? Fair's fair, liar liar pants on fire.

Do you think we will hear any more of Sharpton wanting to run for office now? If Jerry Springer can win in Cincinnati, Sharpton can find his "idiot" village, too.

Black conservative pingIf you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)
Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

As opposed to any of the mainstream news outlets, this is gonna air on HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel" -- that should tell you volumes as to how serious this isn't. Of course HBO sister net CNN could have grabbed this, but it wouldn't have served their liberal base...

On the HBO show, Sharpton first refuses to watch the video and storms out of the interview with reporter Bernard Goldberg. But he later returns, watches and attacks the video as a setup.
I wonder if Al first had to see
which drug deal Goldberg had videotape of before he returned to watch the tape?

Did Sharpton ever make any derogatory comments about Bush's alleged drug use? Or about his arrest for DUI about that same time, which the Gore dirty tricks campaign used to help them (almost) steal the election?

Surely, you jest! Sharpton will not back down, yet! If this is the most the dems have against him he will continue to run and this may backfire on the dems.

Ah, you have it exactly right and said it better than I did!

You got it. I just got up so it took me a few seconds, but my first thought was "well, this isn't any proof of criminal wrongdoing, but it WOULD be enough to make sure he's never able to run for any political office (except maybe Congress; the dopes in his "district" are the type that elect people like Mel whats-his-name and Alcee Hastings).
So who would benefit from that? Hillary! for sure, and most of the machine politicians in NY.

One can be a cokehead (Marion Berry) or a murderer (O.J.) and still evoke sympathy from the inner-city black community. But a snitch? To the FBI?. If this sticks, Sharpton is toast.

IIRC, Springer was mayor before he became a television, er, "event."

I was wondering what was the real agenda under the tape also. I think it is a real tape but instead of cashiering in Sharpton, someone decided to use this longterm... wonder if now the public eye will look at the books and follow the money trail from Sharpton. Someone (Hillary?) has decided his usefulness is done.

I thought the Hillary-Newman post was good. :^)

If no drug deal was consumated, where is the crime? A drug lord can offer me a deal on drugs but unless I accept, there is NO crime. However, I don't doubt that Sharpton has been hanging out with sleazy characters but the fact is, no crime was committed on that tape by Sharpton.

Some years ago Sharpton ADMITTED he wore a wire.........
Meant nothing to his followers then and will mean nothing now!
To: PJ-Comix
Could this Shartpon story be a deflection...something bigger being pushed under the rug (or under the ground, as in 6 ft) at the moment?
To: SkyPilot
Do you think we will hear any more of Sharpton wanting to run for office now? I rather liked the idea that Sharpton would split the black ticket, since blacks vote 90-95% Democrat anyway.
To: kattracks
An unlit cigar stuffed in his mouth, Sharpton sports a cowboy hat over his familiar '80s-vintage bouffant hair-do. Now that would be some picture to have. LOL! Is it out there somewhere?
