Enjoy your SUV while you can. Gov. Gray Davis, California Democrat, on Monday signed landmark legislation mandating reductions in carbon dioxide "emissions" beginning with model year 2009 new cars and trucks sold in the state. Since the only way to decrease the amount of carbon dioxide produced by an internal combustion engine is to burn less fuel, the automakers will have no choice but to decrease the size of vehicles and the engines used to power them. Consider it an end-run around federal Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards that some on the loony left are furious haven't been raised to 40 mpg from the current 27.5 mpg. Or, perhaps a new way to impose the tenets of the never-ratified U.N. global warming treaty

it is a certainty that Mr. Davis' noxious law will impact the entire country.

Not if we can overturn it w/ a proposition in Nov.

The lovely and exciting Deirdreanna e-mailed and asked me the following question about California Governor Davis:

"gee, if our governor is so upset about co2.. perhaps he should refuse
tourists and immigrants (from other states and countries) and restrict our
breathing. Are there any stats as to how much co2 we exhale daily? "

After donning my knight-in-shining-armor suit, I diligently researched and found the following:

Try this:
http://trfn.clpgh.org/wpawma/co2.htm
A quote from it: "Over the course of a year, an average human expires more than half a metric TON of carbon dioxide gas"

Another California CO2 source that needs to be addressed:
http://quake.wr.usgs.gov/prepare/factsheets/CO2/
A quote from the page: "A preliminary estimate of the current rate of CO2 gas emission at Mammoth Mountain is 1,300 tons per day."

Governor Gray Davis, are you listening???
