I certainly feel conservative.

Yes, of course. It is "feelings" that count.

"Who did I label?" - tex

At #29, you labled:

Those who supposedly "equate a telephone tip line with the East German Stasi."
Those who YOU think, "see the patriot act as the 3rd Reich incarnated."
Anyone who you claim "see the War on Terror as a government plot but a real war."
And those who allegedly "see how terrorists should be afforded constitutional protections, citizens or not."
And the John Birch Society.

- As not YOUR brand of 'conservative'. - [an authoritarian statist socialist]

-- Thus, you prove your hypocrisy with your own words.

Thanks for an honest answer. I agree.

Do you think that Congress should declare war against Iraq or do you think that the UN cease-fire agreement or evidence of WMD is enough for the president to move against them?

I'm falling asleep as I type but I'll check back tomorrow.

The only "emotion" you bring out in me is one of utter contempt that one feels when encountering a cockroach.

Here's a true CONSERVATIVE solution package:

1- Ask every American to read the Constitution. Pay special emphasis to the preample.

2- Drastically reduce the Federal Income tax. Preferably, eliminate it altogether.

3- Ask every American to read the Federalist papers. Put special emphasis on writings of Thomas Jefferson.

4- Stop Federal regulation of intra-state commerce, a crippling legacy of FDR.

5- Ask every American to read the Federalist papers, again.

6- Eliminate foreign aid. All of it, even to Israel.

7- Stop propping up corrupt Arab regimes of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, Yemen, etc.

8- Read the Federalist papers, John Locke, and the Constitution.

9- Stop being the world's policeman. Bring the troops home. If the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia wants to defend itself from its Arab cousins in Iraq, they are free to buy F-16s, and learn how to fly them. Ditto Koreans, Japanese, and all the rest.

10- Teach Americans family values, family values, family values. Every American should spend less time in front of the TV, and more time with his parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Encourage private volunteering over government charity.

11- Rather than being the world's policeman, we should be the world's beacon of liberty. Our elected leaders should make a habit of discussing the importance of individual liberty and government of enumerated powers. The words of the President of the USA get attention internationally. He should be saying the right things.

12- Return power to city and state governments, or to the people (Did I mention "read the Constitution?")

13- Return to people true freedom of association. This includes the right of landlords, employers, private clubs, and condominium complexes to refuse association for arbitrary reasons, even (gasp!) based on race, religion, or sexual preferance.

14- Stop judicial tyranny. Consenting adults who voluntarily participate in harmful activities should not be allowed to force society to pay for their stupidity.

OK, I guess I'm getting off topic here, a bit. But my point should come through:

Limited government. Individual liberty. Using the bully pulpit to send the right message. Get out of the world's trouble spots. Family values. Free markets. Free association.

Problem is, today's conservatives think "individual liberty and limited governance" is a cafeteria, where they pick what they like, and discard what they don't. The result is the mess we're in now : We're giving up our liberties because Saudis and Egyptians, angry at our support of Israel and their corrupt leaders, are trying to nuke us.

And ... oh yeah ... read the New Testament. Pay special attention to Mark and Matthew.

The thing I don't like about Pat Buchannan is ... I always wonder whether he's not a closet anti-semite.

Also, he's never been a free market fan. I'm a big believer in Smith and Locke.

Nice position paper. - Very much like the one just posted by JR, from the RLC. Check it out.

You're wasting it by flagging a 'rino' though.

This entire piece is just one more Libertarian's rant over the fact that his party can't break 500,000 votes in a national election.

Well, I tried to vote Libertarian last election, but the Thought Police read my brain waves and I got a midnight knock on my door... heh heh. Now the microchip they implanted in my brain forces me to tune into Neil Boortz every day, and to post common-sense replies to the political hypochondriacs who inhabit FR.

On a more serious note, several of the '4 Characteristics of a Police State' were at least as much in evidence at the very founding of our Republic: One-party rule; Federal power of eminent domain; repressive laws concerning pornography and lewd behavior. So are we just now becoming a police state, or have we been one since our very inception?

An oldie but a goodie

Don't you get it Tpaine. I consider you an object of utter contempt. You are an across the borderline nutcase that skulks from thread to thread seeing who you can insult this time. You are neither amusing, intellectual or even interesting. You are background noise. A groupie in a desperate search for a group. You are a sad little man that is angry, bitter and in need of a lot of professional attention. You have NOTHING to offer the human race other than an example of what NOT to become. I have tried every approach with you and none works. Yet you insist on yapping at my heels with your juvenile and pathetic rants about subjects you not only don't know a thing about but don't even suspect. I am engaging in a blatant personal attack and I may be banned but I wanted to make crystal clear my utter contempt. To hate someone is to fear them but to hold them in contempt is just a way of saying that YOU are not worth the effort.
