WASHINGTON (AP)--The U.S. Senate Friday voted to hold a special session in New York City on Sept. 6, just five days before the first anniversary of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.
The measure was approved by unanimous consent. It passed in the House Thursday by voice vote.
"This extraordinary gesture of solidarity is a powerful expression of support," Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., said in a statement.
The session will be held at Federal Hall, downtown near the trade center site.
First proposed in a Daily News editorial, the visit has been scaled back from original ideas for a full-blown session to a more symbolic gathering to which each state would send at least one member from its House and Senate delegation.
Congress last convened in New York in 1789-90, when the city was the first U.S. capital under the current Constitution.
Since moving to Washington in 1800, Congress has rarely left, according to Capitol historians. In 1989, Congress held a ceremonial meeting in Philadelphia on the bicentennial of its first session.

This is something that still PO's me. Why is Hilarity Clinton even involved in 9/11 at all? They already have Senate support in the senior New York Senator, Chuck Schumer. The next person who should have been heard from about 9/11 is the Representative from that district. I still could never find out who that House member is. The media isn't telling in stories about 9/11. Her prescence in this is like having an extra rectum.

Hillary's motto is "It's all about me".
The broad is whacked with delusions of grandeur.

I think its a wonderful gesture. That's what it is... a gesture. This along with a couple of more 9/11 congresssional investigations and creating another cabnet level department or two ought to solve all of our problems.

I finally found out that the Representative Hillary stepped over is Jerrold Nadler. No suprise.

Thank for that. I asked several times and the media was no help. I was almost under the impression that that area of NYC didn't have a representative ( relying on the press reports on 9/11 ). I guess a big guy has a big FBI file. Kind of answers my own question on why Hiltlery "stepped over" him.
