Bomb Blast in Crowded Maluku Market

JAKARTA, Indonesia, Jul 27, 2002 (AP Online via COMTEX) -- A bomb exploded in Indonesia's strife-torn province of Maluku Saturday morning, injuring as many as 27 people and shattering hopes of peace.

The explosion occurred around 9 a.m. at a traditional market packed with shoppers in a Christian neighborhood of Ambon, the provincial capital and focus of three years of religious violence that has left 9,000 people dead, witnesses said.

Frans, who like many Indonesians uses only one name, said he was inside his house when he heard the explosion. He looked outside to see shards of glass and blood in the street.

"Suddenly there was boom, boom. The house was shaking," he said. "I saw some people lying on the street, and there was blood everywhere. I am not sure how many people were there. But I saw two of them badly injured and lifted to ambulance."

No one took responsibility for the blast, and there were no arrests.

The blast is expected to set back efforts to restore peace in the province after masked men attacked a village on the outskirts of Ambon in April, killing 12 Christians.

"The situation was very much improving and mutual trust between Muslims and Christians was building up," said Cornelius Bohm, a Christian pastor in Ambon. "This is a terrible setback."

Nah buddy. Its not a setback - its a reality check. After all, "Islam is Peace." Just ask Pres. Bush.

When a "moderate muslim" is smiling at you, he is thinking of Danny Pearl.

When a "moderate muslim" is smiling at you, he is thinking of Danny Pearl.

Or a guy in a wheelchair being dumped off a boat.
Or a schoolbus full of children being blown to smithereens.
Or an exploding barracksful of 18-year old Marines.
Or a marketplace full of grandmothers, mothers and infants.
Or....

Etc.

Or two 110 story towers collapsing... Or a pentagonal shaped building burning... Or the slaughter of 2,823 Americans...

Never Forget!

Hmmm. Let me try it this way.

When a "moderate muslim" is smiling at you, he is looking at your throat and thinking of Danny Pearl.

I thought Indonesia was very predominately Moslem. Seems the only thing you need for mass murder is Christians/Jews/or any others and any percentage of Islam to mix. Islam is submission, not peace.

The explosion occurred around 9 a.m. at a traditional market packed with shoppers in a Christian neighborhood of Ambon, the provincial capital.

How come giving the Islam Jihad some of the capitol of Israel as part of a "peace" deal does not sound like it will bring peace, yet the liberals all scream for it?

Check out the CNN/Reuters version of this story. They couldn't even bother to tell that the victims were Christians.

"Martin Djari, chief official at Ambon's information department, told Reuters there was more than one blast and they struck around around 10:30 a.m. local time (0130 GMT).

"It's so sad. The explosions happened at Mardika, a busy shopping area ... Many people have been injured," he said.

I especially love the "..." where the pertinent information was left out.

They blame the bombing on "Muslim-Christian violence". If we're supposed to be in a war, wouldn't it be helpful if our news sources kept the American people informed of what the enemy is doing in other parts of the world? I guess it doesn't really concern us, huh.

There can be little doubt that this was the work of an Al Quida cell. Al Quida is very active in Indonesia. Perhaps AlQ is supported there by elements of the government, as they are in Pakistan.

shattering hopes of peace

When does the world get it that they don't want peace, but to convert the people or kill them.
