I'm afraid the stock market might be to George Jr. what supermarket checkout scanners were to George Sr.

Re #11

They may have to teach class on propaganda and PR in high school, both political and business propaganda(advertising, brand building, etc). They have to know how they are manipulated.

Thanks. Sincerely. I really hadn't thought through the Social Security privatization issue. My beady, cynical, old fart brain was simply tied to the political gamesmanship. It seems as if 8 years of Clinton has really taken its toll on my ability to reasonably look at any politician.

It will come a day before CEOs must personally vouch for their company books.

This is all part of the government propaganda campaign designed to restore "confidence" in a corrupt and broken system, and give cover to politicians. "Now, that we let the crooks on Wall Street take all of your saving and retirement money, what can we do to help you and restore your confidence?"

GW should stay out of the further fleecing of the public. I'll start investing again as soon as Lay, Fastow and Skilling are doing jail time.

"I'll start investing again as soon as Lay, Fastow and Skilling are doing jail time. "

Does this mean you were stupid enough to believe their quarterly reports?

I never was interested in Enron, WorldCom and a host of others. Lucky me.

Thanks, Tz. As others have posted this is yet another manifestation of "compassionate conservatism." A nice opportunity for the folks to blow off some steam or shed some tears in front of the cameras.

Well, if President Bush DOESN'T do this, do you think the Rats are going to sit quietly by? Nope, they will have their own "feel your pain" on an ABC special, and then we will be playing catch-up.

I don't like these types of programs much, but President Bush is very good with people, and an event like this will draw interested viewers, restore a bit of confidence, and take another opportunity from the democrats.

Good morning Miss Marple. We must be careful that in taking opportunities away from the dems that we do not in fact become them as with the issue of prescription drug programs.

When I speak of programs, I am speaking of television programs.

Also, I would remind you that President Bush camapigned on a prescription plan, although it is often not remembered.
