How about introducing a "Conservative Character" that is opposed to government funding of this ROT. How many new characters could they introduce if they had to pay their own way and not make me fund something that I don't want to view?

If the virus became a more serious problem for U.S. children, "Sesame Street" would be as responsive as it has been to other topics, Mitchell said.

*snip*

She and the show's producers had previously said no HIV-positive character was planned in the U.S. version.

*snip*

Its new HIV-positive Muppet character was created at the urging of the South African government to educate children about AIDS

Insidious.

PBS: "No, no, this puppet is only for South Africa. The South African government has asked for it, we'd ~never~ consider bringing it to the US."
Congress: "Well, OK, then. We trust you. Go ahead use public tax dollars to indoctrinate South African children."

**two weeks later**

PBS: "We've decided that if AIDS becomes a more serious problem for U.S. children....."

So exactly how does Sesame Street determine what constitutes "a more serious problem for U.S. children"? Gee, the number of children with AIDS has increased by 0.001% over the past year, so it's a much more serious problem....

Surprise, surprise! Duped again.
