Actually, I live in the Wine Country of Kali. I have a son in Portland, and my older son lived in Oregon for a few years.

We love Oregon (not Portland). Our favorite area is the SW Oregon Coast from Bandon to Brookings.

I'm a fly fishing addicted Grampa, and I like to sneak up to Oregon for some great fly fishing in the summer and early fall. Looks like no Oregon fishing this summer for me. We are planning a trip up to the Coast in September.

I made one error:

That should have read "Andy Kerr and the ONRC," but NRDC should be in there as well as RAN and all the rest of the ecoterrorist groups.

Is that the 2 story one out west on the point by the lighthouse?

I can't remember the name either, but it is really good.

Their Sunday Brunch may be the best on the Oregon Coast. We will drive from Brookings or Gold Beach for their brunch.

Their calamari is the best in Oregon.

Some of the downtown restaurants in Bandon are very good. Their seafood is so fresh that it is still flopping before the chefs prepare it. There are a couple of great lamb ranches in the area, and the lamb may be the best American Lamb we have eaten. The Denmark Bakery has the best cinnamon rolls on the West Coast and great breads that they bake each day.

Old Towne Bandon is a great place to spend a day shopping, snacking, walking and eating.

Andy Kerr and the vile elite heads of the ONRC are the driving eco force in the no roads, no logging of even dead trees and no management of invasive brush.

They should be put in chain gangs and made to fight these fires with a hoe dag and no fire tent.

Then, they should be forced to live in their Druid Cathedrals working on Chain Gangs to pay back the cost of their green agendas to the Oregon tax payers and innocents harmed by these fires.

After the fires, let them sleep in used REI Tents and use army surplus blankets in some burnt out forest. Make them forage for their food and beg for used clothes. Then, they have to work 12 hours per day on a chain gang watched by out of work loggers with 12 gauge shotguns loaded with rock salt. The rock salt can be used anytime the former loggers feel like it.

That's too bad Dave, there is some great fly fishing in that area. One of my buddies lives in Bend and he's a fly fishin' fool...I never caught the bug.

I did some fresh water fishing with a spinning rig and charter boating out through the Golden gate and Bodega Bay, years ago...now I just ride my Suzuki for a little outside relaxation... :o)

March of 1980 was my first and last adult trip through Oregon. When I found out you couldn't pump your own gas, that pretty much did it for me. That was followed by the owl disaster that put most of the wood products industry out of business, now the forests, at one time considered to be sacred as long as loggers weren't allowed to touch them, can just go up in smoke. Not to mention the salmon/indian/white guys vs enviros crisis, and the water/salmon/fish/farmer crisis, and I'm sure I'm leaving out something important. What a state of........The only positive news is the enviros are just mum at the moment, because if they were to open their mouths, someone directly effected by fire might just put a foot somewhere.

I would add Rat senators like Da$$hole

Who just exempted his state (SD) from the ban on logging. Amazing, isn't it?

I think that all the states where there have been fires:
Arizona
Oregon
Colorado
California
Texas
You add the rest! LOL!

Need to file a class-action suit against Senator DysfunctionDaschle and the state of South Dakota for discrimination in this matter.

If I lived in Bend, I would probably be divorced and kill my self fly fishing.

My older son lived in Bend about 6 years ago. I visited him for a week during Father' Day. He worked, and we still went fishing every evening from 4 to 10 pm. I fished the mornings, and we got together after he got off work.

I had to rest for two weeks after I got home.
