Let's see now. I am supposed to feel sorry for some morbidly obese sow who, through her own acts, rings in at 400 POUNDS overweight? Hell, I am 20 lbs over desired and I don't want anyone to feel sorry for that which I have done to myself.

Is it the Mickey-D's hash browns, or the drunkin dognuts, or the filet mignon that should be taxed to support this bucket of blubber?

In my case, I blame my excess weight on freeping & the 95+ degree temperatures outside.

How about if that "sow" is trying to ahve a life-saving surgery to reduce a problem she obviously admits she has?

Who said anything was going to be taxed? From my understanding, bariatric surgery and other weight loss procedures are completely OUT OF POCKET. If anything, this "sow" deserves more accomadation than your sorry a$$ does when you get a regular check up paying the doctor a fraction of the cost through your HMO.

This is exactly the type of attitudes on FR I am sick of. All they see is a weight and they are off on thier fat bashing frenzy. I hear a lot of lip service given to letting the free market work, well that is unless you are fat--then even if you pay full price for say a specialized surgery, you don't deserve any sort of accomadation afforded to any other privately paying citizen and oh, even if you still buy two seats on southwest, we still are going to treat you like a peice of crap. Some of you are so transparent on this issue. Don't dare cut some slack for a full paying consumer trying to improve thier health. Easier to bash a fat person. And I've seen this stuff time and again, not only on FR. People saying rude things to people getting out to walk and hampering thier weight loss efforts by making them feel ashamed and embarressed to even go out again. They are out there attempting to correct the problem and instead of encouragment they have to put up with people like lawdude yelling obscenities to them out of a window(sorry lawdude, you just seem the type if this post is any indication). Tell ya what, you can blather all you want to those fat people trying to dig in your pockets with that lawsuit, but give people like this trying to improve thier health a break will you!

Oh and before you figure on what my deal is. Yes, I am currently overweight. I am one of those few with health related indications--thyroid problem after a pregnancy. But, I have been on the other end, to the point where I was approached to teach aerobics class not so many years back. I never lost my compassion for those who are overweight. I know the mindset and while I don't agree at all with the blame others syndrome being attempted in the courts now, I do know how others can discourage your weight loss at the same time you are making efforts. How at one point people are saying "why don't you lose weight" and at the other time are putting up every roadblock possible to hinder you in your efforts(snide comments, refusal to accomadate for a procedure like bariatric surgery, lecturing doctors even when you are there for thier assistance to lose weight(on that same note doctors who blame every health problem on weight even when you are only mildly overweight, etc) I kinda wish everyone had a bout with being seriously overweight at some point in thier life so they could gain a little compassion. I would bet most fat people don't want your $$ for thier own poor judgement, but they sure would like a little bit of compassion--like the same kind you'd show a good looking, thin blonde who dropped her shopping bags or something.
signing off before my blood boils more.
