[history]
The antigun set went bonkers in Michigan a year ago when the courts stymied their efforts to gut a new law expanding gun rights. The Michigan Supreme Court threw out the gun-control advocates' ballot initiative, saying the issue couldn't be challenged with a referendum. Having failed there, the antigunners took aim with the only weapon left in their arsenal: inflated rhetoric. Relaxing gun restrictions, they warned, would bring Wild West-style shootouts, blood in the streets and a severe political backlash against Republicans and conservative judges.

It's hard for me to believe that this is anything other than a campaign ploy by the DemocRATs. In fact, in a Senate or Congressional election, I could even argue that it's preferable to vote for an anti-gun RINO than a pro-gun RAT, since at least the RINO would caucus with the GOP, and if the GOP held the majority, we'd see fewer assaults on our 2A rights (of course, maybe I'm wrong - look at Jim Jeffords).
It's unhealthy for only one party to command the loyalty of gun owners - the GOP can give us the back of their hand while the RATs ignore us. It will take a lot more than what I see in that article for me to believe that the RATs take 2A rights seriously.

Amazing! This is exactly word-for-word what the anit-gunners said when the then Gov. George W. Bush put the Concealed Carry initiative on the ballot for the voters of Texas to decide. The anti-gun Nazis seem to be getting more desperate by the day!

The liberals are not smart enough to realize that you can only cry out false warnings so many times before you lose credibility. Did they never read "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" when they were children?
1) What does having a carry permit have to do with blowing away some creep who is breaking into your house to kidnap, rape, and murder your little girl? Perhaps it was a Freudian slip as they wish to do away with private gun ownership altogether.
2) In whose book would killing a child rapist/murder be a bad thing?

And the exact words were used in Tennessee and Ohio and Florida and every other state where the citizens' rights have been partially restored.

"I am backing a constitutional amendment to protect hunting and fishing." So I guess the 2nd should read, "...hunting and fishing, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
I always wondered why our founders put that ammendment in the constitution. Now I now - these morons have told me why.

There you go. A 2nd Amendment for soccer moms.

The deafening silence you hear from Michigan's Democratic candidates for governor on the issue is proof that the nightmares of liberal imagination often can be made to vanish with experience. And that the folks who wrote the Second Amendment may have understood that adults can usually be trusted to act like adults. Wrong on both accounts.
"Nightmares of liberal imaginations" will resurface once they gain office. It has nothing to do with facts or experience.
"And that the folks who wrote the Second Amendment" understood that people can not be "trusted" to act in any reasonable manner. That is why the 2nd amendment was written.

Time and again the dem party has stated that they wanted to disarm the American People and in the same breath mentioned their "support" for the Constitution.
In order to keep all of our Rights, we have to be single issue voters and get rid of the dems.

Same thing they tried in Florida

Former governor James Blanchard, trying for another stint in Lansing, said the new law should stand and then went one step further: "I am backing a constitutional amendment to protect hunting and fishing."
Huh? Just back the Second Amendment (maroon).

Sirs untill we see that we have been the victim of more propaganda, will we succumb to false facts, I hope not. When will we demand a factual accounting of things and above the truth. An honest debate will help us all, Hell or high water

Just wait until those "reborn" anti-gun freaks get in office and see what they do. If I were a betting man I would wager most of them will be pushing new gun control laws before the first year of their term is up. I just hope the gun owners in MI (and elsewhere) aren't fooled by these two-faced lying sacks of poultry excrement.

The 2nd is as much about hunting as the 1st is about playing Scrabble(R).
