Enron at the CIA

Enron at the CIA

"Are you one of those Enron guys?" We hear this is a common question put to new employees at CIA headquarters by their fellow colleagues - once their colleagues discover they once worked for the agency.

At least a dozen top Enron operatives have joined the CIA. Better put, these officers have returned to the CIA.

Apparently, Enron recruited heavily from the CIA to help field its global operations dealing with major corporations and nations.

With Enron having gone bust and the economy in turmoil, Enron has turned out to be a source of veteran CIA officers the agency desperately needs in the aftermath of 9-11.

There was a time when if the CIA took control of a major corporation, siphoned off billions in stock holder's dollars and left the company bankrupt, it would all be kept a secret. I miss the good old days.

Too bad this "at least a dozen top operatives" weren't
keeping an eye on Al Qaeda instead of the books at Enron.
Maybe they were better spies than they were businessmen.

WHEN KEN LAY IS IN A ORANGE JUMP SUIT I WILL KNOW THAT CORPORATE FRAUD IS BEING ANSWERED. WHEN THE BORDERS ARE CLOSED I WILL KNOW THAT TERRORISM IS BEING ANSWERED. Until then (or better if ever then) I know it is a CHARADE.

As much as I had come to hate the anarchist crowd and the down with Corporate America crowd, I find these days that they did have a point or two, though not enough for a slow dance.

In the early 1990s, Enron struck several deals to build and operate power plants in the Philippines, including a small plant in Subic Bay abandoned by the US military. In those deals, according to a 1995 article in Inter Press Service, Enron was aided by US Ambassador Frank Wisner Jr and officials from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), who "provided Enron with key data on the risks of the project and strategies of possible competitors".

Wisner, who was US ambassador to India when Enron became involved in the Dabhol project, was appointed to the Enron board of directors in 1997. Wisner, as many historians of US intelligence know, is the son of the infamous Frank Wisner Sr, who was a top CIA operative until he committed suicide in 1965. He distinguished himself in two US-supported coups in the 1950s that later came back to haunt US diplomacy: the overthrow of the Arbenz government in Guatemala and the Mossadeq government in Iran

Thank you. This just keeps getting stranger and stranger.

Next I will probably learn that with Arthur Anderson going broke, that Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom, (A.K.A. Fantasyland) is now recruiting former accountants to help run the place and design new experiences for the guests of the ammusement park.

This link takes you to a story about Enron and a power plant in Gaza.

Elizabeth Cheney will now be deciding about that power plant in Gaza that is unfinished, because she is in charge of "reforming Palestine".

Millions of American tax $$$$$ went into that power plant,as well as Enron and Bin Laden Construction $$$$.

Now Daddy Dick wont turn over his energy task force minutes,Enron is kerplunk, the CIA that was in Enron is now back in the CIA, and Daughter Elizabeth is working on all of this!

Hmmmmmm.......

Frank Wisner, Sr.'s CIA career goes back beyond the 50's. He was head of the OSS mission in Romania in 1944.
