"Only a man of Mr. Clinton's, er, self-confidence, could believe that he could get away with what Mr. McAuliffe is trying, to lead his party's charge against President Bush on the issue of business ethics. In the sermon he delivered to the Democratic National Committee summer meeting in Las Vegas Saturday, Mr. McAuliffe was so busy attacking the President for manipulating markets and exploiting September 11 that somehow he never mentioned the words Global Crossing.
"It's not that he doesn't know the name. In 1997, at the invitation of CEO Gary Winnick, Mr. McAuliffe made an investment of $100,000 in Global Crossing shortly before it went public. Two years later he sold it for $18 million. Shortly thereafter, Global Crossing made a public announcement of decline in profits and the share price plummeted. It declared bankruptcy last January; in other words, Mr. McAuliffe pocketed $18 million for worthless shares.
"Nor did the Democrats' chairman bring up his Florida land deal, in which he turned an investment of $100 into $2.45 million. Byron York laid out the details of this sweetheart deal last month in National Review Online. These include a Labor Department investigation that ended last October with two of Mr. McAuliffe's partners paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in penalties.
"Mr. McAuliffe's rhetoric stirred the party loyalists in Las Vegas; we read that he hopes his candidates pick it up in actually running for office. If they do, we'd hope voters would remember the origin of the rhetoric, and that Republicans would remind them. For the [DemonRAT] party to allow Mr. McAuliffe to be its spokesman on business ethics is an insult to voters, suggesting they're too dumb to recognize utter hypocrisy."

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to listen to the last 90 minutes of Rush's show today, so I'm not sure if he mentioned this WSJ article or not, but I sent him a private 24/7 e-mail with a link just in case. I'm listening to the last two hours now and the Lovable Fuzzball is certainly laying into McAuliffe today, but these four paragraphs say a boatload and need to make it to the ears of Limbaugh's 20 Million listeners!!
