If oil supplies are disrupted only for a few weeks, we could be in for a depression. Iran is next on the hit list so it might decide to intervene. They will try to close the Straits of Hormuz. They won't succeed for too long but it could disrupt oil supplies. They could also send in a million men into Iraq. That's a lot to handle for a 75,000 man expeditionary force that Rummy is envisioning.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to marry into one's own religion. My daughters are still very young, but when they grow up I would wish them to marry Baptists (preferably SBC).
I fail to see the comparison between wanting to preserve one's own religous identity, and wanting others to either convert or be killed.

I fail to see the comparison between wanting to preserve one's own religous identity, and wanting others to either convert or be killed. As somone who is neither Christian nor even religious, I don't want to convert anyone. Nor do I care what religion anyone else subscribes to. I've always said that everyone needs something at 3 a.m. If religion does it for you, I truely am glad for you.
My concern is rather for the welfare of America. Because this is a country made up of people from every country, religion, and ethnicity we have nothing to hold us together but our committment to Jeffersonian democracy, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, free speech, equal protection under the law and equality. If a person thinks his co-religionists are inherently more valuable than other American citizens, I have a problem with that. If he thinks his religion permits him to place America's interests behind those of another country. My basic position is this. If a person can't make a whole-hearted committment to America, he ought to consider the possibility he might be a lot happier somewhere else.

Doesn't look like we have a disagreement.
