From "The Ten Truths about Tyranny"

Michael Giwer(c) 1994 <9/30

1) Any law the electorate sees as being open to being perverted from its original intent will be perverted in a manner that exceeds the manner of perversion seen at the time.

2) Any law that is so difficult to pass it requires the citizens be assured it will not be a stepping stone to worse laws will in fact be a stepping stone to worse laws.

3) Any law that requires the citizens be assured the law does not mean what the citizens fear, means exactly what the citizens fear.

4) Any law passed in a good cause will be interpreted to apply to causes against the wishes of the people.

5) Any law enacted to help any one group will be applied to harm people not in that group.

6) Everything the government says will never happen will happen.

7) What the government says it could not foresee, the government has planned for.

8) When there is a budget shortfall to cover non-essential government services the citizens will be given the choice between higher taxes or the loss of essential government services.

9) Should the citizens mount a successful effort to stop a piece of legislation the same legislation will be passed under a different name.

10) All deprivations of freedom and choice will be increased rather than reversed.

The last name of the family was Buttle. The cops were looking for the "Tuttle" family.

Oh well, it can happen to anybody.

Hope they get that hole in the ceiling fixed by the department of works...

To all freepers who supported the Patriot Bill - you now have a moral obligation to stand up NOW to this abuse of provisions of that bill towards law enforcement efforts that have nothing to do with terrorism.

ACLU Communication Director Wendy Wagenheim said the Howell raid was the first she's heard of in which officials tried to use new police powers designed to fight terrorism.

Well, get used to it Wendy. These goof-ball JBTs saw the Patriot Act as carte blanche to do the things they couldn't do before.

"Their motives are wonderful..."

Give that lawyer a drug test; I think he's on 'E'.

Their motives are wonderful…

F#*k you. Their motivation is the creation of a police state, where we all live or die at the discretion of “the law.”

I'd have half expected the WOD Warriors and the TIPS/Patriot Act warriors to have chimed in by now and proclaim it's better to have false security than have your freedoms intact, but the silence is deafening.

Everyone could. Look, I'm not of the Liberterian vent, but you guys have my full support when you go ofter the abuses of the new laws. This is absolute bull sh_t and even the dimest of people should recognize it.

I have not trusted Ashcroft and his assurances that the Patriot act laws and others he has up his sleave are in the best interest of the citizens of the United States. This one alone is a crime in and of itself. Where is this families right to due process and the assurance of an open and above board process?

This stinks to high heavens.

Hmmm...my instincts would tell me to resist such an assault by this bunch, and that would most likely prove fatal. Especially against 15-20 ninja clad goons armed to the teeth. The sane approach would be to fight it in the courts, try and go after their personal assets (if possible - I am not a lawyer). If that didn't work, the only course of action left would be a move toward a covert campaign of revenge, make their lives miserable through a series of dirty tricks.

Gee, I'm so glad that we've wrapped up our campaign ofdeporting all illegal immigrants, stopping the issuance of visa's, and investigated and stopped coddling all foreign suspects so that we now have all this free time to harass American citizens.

Oh wait....
