Could it happen here: Farah warns anti-Semitism latest form of political correctness

A vicious strain of anti-Semitism is ravaging Europe like an epidemic.

Synagogues are being burned and defaced in France. Yarmulke-wearing Jews are targets of stone-throwers in Germany. Even in merry old England, it's no longer safe to be Jewish.

Could it happen here in the U.S.? If you look closely, you can already see the signs – especially on college campuses, often where the worst societal trends get their start.

Here's some of what's been happening at the University of Chicago:

Such is life for Jewish students at a major U.S. university. Similar stories can be heard from students at dozens of other colleges across the country.

Where does this hatred come from? Often it begins with a faculty with a contempt for open and honest debate and a penchant for propaganda.

Students at the University of Chicago tell a story of professors teaching literary theory turning seminars on writing into condemnations of Israel. Professors in Near Eastern Language and Civilization teach history without ever suggesting there is a legitimate Israeli perspective on the birth of the Jewish state. Other professors simply stifle dissent and nuanced discussions or treat students with different points of view like pariahs.

In other words, anti-Semitism has become the latest form of political correctness on campus.

Where can students turn in the face of such hostility? In the case of the University of Chicago, they tried going to the administration. But the authorities on campus have shown little interest in promoting balance, tolerance, diversity and academic freedom – once the highest goals on campus.

Meanwhile, after a spate of alleged anti-Muslim violence across the nation, University President Don Randel issued a "zero-tolerance" policy toward discrimination against Muslims. Yet, when anti-Semitism appeared to be on the rise worldwide – especially in Europe – no similar statements condemning anti-Jewish bigotry were elicited from Randel.

As a result of this double-standard, Jewish students no longer feel welcome on the campus. They see a climate of increasing hostility toward Jews and supporters of Israel.

In response, Jewish students and others have made a list of recommendations to the administration:

To date, despite weeks of waiting, the students who made these reasonable proposals are still waiting for any response from the administration.

If this were an isolated instance, we could chalk it up to one university sadly out of touch or too timid to respond to the new political correctness on campus. But the University of Chicago is no different in this regard to dozens of other campuses I hear from on a daily basis.

This is how it begins.

The bullies are winning the day.

Can it happen here?

It has already begun.

It has already begun.

Can it be any wonder.

For the last several years and particularly after 9/11 the staunchest and most vocal supporters of Israel have been the Conservative Christians. Of course the radical leftist would see Jews as an enemy if they are perceived to be in league with the right.

Since many of the college leftists are Jewish you would think that anti Jewish sentiment would be out of bounds on a college campus, think again, leftist secular Jews don't care who they bully or allow to be bullied if that person is not to their political liking.

"Where does this hatred come from? Often it begins with a faculty with a contempt for open and honest debate and a penchant for propaganda."
But that's what a "Liberal" faculty is...

That's what a "Liberal" is--someone with a contempt for open and honest debate and a penchant for propaganda. That describes them perfectly...

And "Liberals" tend to be overwhelmed with anger and "hatred". Why would it be surprising that hatred originates with "Liberals"? They typically claim that it is because of injustice, but this is a false claim. "Liberals" do not want justice. They want to redistribute injustice. What they really want is power and control, an outlet for their personal frustration and anger, and, all too often, revenge.

"Other professors simply stifle dissent and nuanced discussions or treat students with different points of view like pariahs."
But "Liberals" have been doing that for years...!
"the authorities on campus have shown little interest in promoting balance, tolerance, diversity and academic freedom"
But this is a "Liberal" campus. "Liberalism has nothing to do with balance, tolerance, diversity (other than racial, sexual, and ethnic diversity), and academic freedom. It stands for the opposite of all these.
"grades should not be affected by one's political opinions and that indoctrination should not be a goal in the classroom"
But that strikes at the very heart of what "Liberalism" is all about. How can you have a "Liberal" academic institution and ban indoctrination? You can't. And American academicians would rather be "Liberal" than anything. (I think it's the appellation that's so important to them. It's of utmost importance to be able to wear the label.)
"the University of Chicago is no different in this regard to dozens of other campuses"
But American universities are overwhelmingly "Liberal"... "Liberalism" means a contempt for open and honest debate, a penchant for propaganda, the stifling of dissent, bias, intolerance, homogenization of ideas, lack of freedom of thought and freedom of speech, control, indoctrination, shouting down and drowning out dissenting opinions, lack of freedom...

Why is any of this surprising to anybody?

Diversity is the opposite of university.

(something I saw here on FR yesterday, which cannot be repeated enough).

It should be pointed out that Chicago is home to Louis Farrakhan's and Jesse Jackson's race racketeering organizations. "Political Correctness" demands that the aformentioned, not be criticized or contradicted.

Yup. Liberal bigotry dare not speak its name. And increasingly Leftists and Islamist Nazis have found a new enemy they both hate as the very embodiment of Western Civilization. The Jews.

Diversity is the opposite of university.

That's right, they think life can be ruled by a single unifying algorithm, which is bollocks of course, even in Physics since many rules must derive from the singularity, and it is those diverse rules themselves which are more practical in the end.

What is sure is that the University praises worship of professors, campus and ideas of men. It's anything but tolerant and nothing but arrogant. This is where cult America is built, billions of dollars partly wasted, save for proving millions of them wrong, in the end a bargain compared to the court costs.

Conservative Christians have long since been driven from the faculties and student bodies of the universities and colleges that count in America --it is a dirty secret and everyone knows it.

As liberal epitomies of political correctness, Jews had their days. They were instrumental in setting up the very structures of persecution and denial of grades degrees and tenure...that are now beginning to be used against them.

They came for the Christians, and I cheeringly handed them over, for I was not a Christian.

Then they came for the Jews, and there were no other believers left to defend us. We were on our own against the godless, the evil, the Islamic...

What people don't realize about many "leftist secular Jews" is that they aren't Jewish anymore. They may be of Jewish descent, and many might even go thru the motions of sitting down for Passover seder -- but they have converted to another religion: Marxism.

The god they now worship is not the God of Abraham, but it is just as much a jealous god that will not tolerate any other gods before it. It is a god of death, suffering, and poverty, and it demands human sacrifice on a regular basis

I think this is a great opportunity for JPFO to recruit a whole bunch of new college age, and other, members. If those prospective members have as much sense as God gave a green apple that is. "Never Again" should apply in the US as well as in Israel.
