You're right, of course! Those narcissists are in a 'me, me' country in an us, US nation.

It isn't any different. The government takes what it wants -- by force -- which IMO makes it worse than Enron et al.

Someday the wings of vultures will darken the halls of corrupt government.

You are not alone. Cheers!

Actually, I think hiring the Hell's Angels for security at a rock concert makes a lot more sense.

Thanks for posting this. In a February 27th hearing before the House Financial Services Committee, Ron Paul R-Texas asked Chairman Greenspan,
"...,can you see any corollary whatsoever on what you're asked to do in running our monetary system to that which Enron was involved in?
To which Chairman Greenspan replied,
"..., I hope there are fundamental differences. I mean, there are -- first, dealing with essentially a fiat currency,...[blah blah, yadda yadda]...in summary, I hope your analogy is inappropriate.
You hope the whole economy isnt another Enron Mr Chairman?

I bet there would be better security! And I bet they wouldn't let anything past them.

I reckon I am.

I just wish there was something I could do except vote and write letters to Congress.

My reaction exactly! Think of the level of hypocrisy and chutzpa that it takes to completely denigrate corporations for fraudulent accounting practices that are insignificant compared to government accounting practices. If and when the crash comes, it will because of the self inflicted practices of our federal government, and we will lose our rights are a result of their CRIMINAL conduct. Trust Fund indeed!

OK, now I'm completely depressed. Thanks a lot. But seriously, this is a topic that has been continually swept undedr the rug by liberals and conservatives (gasp!). We are the Whore of Babylon, trading our children's inheritance for glass beads and worthless trinkets.

IT IS CALLED CREATIVE ACCOUNTING. Yes and our government taught corporate America how to cook their books, and we should send corporate America along with our Congress to jail.Next we need to replace our Judicial System with some honest folk who have common sense and without law degrees. Our legal system in America has become a GAME at providing legal scholars the means of milking the wealth out of this country .When a brilliant legal scholar like Bill Clinton cant figure out the meaning of the word "is "how the heck can you expect those with lesser intelligence to figure it out or maybe that is what it is designed for,to produce a smoke screen.Reminds me of the days of the old traveling salesman.

The people of the United States have exactly the government they want. I just proved this to myself. Every two years, the people have the opportunity to replace the entire House of Representatives. Over a little longer period, they can replace the entire Senate. Every four years, they can replace the President.

I just completed a campaign for congress for an open seat. I am a workingman. I quit my job and spent four months relentlessly traveling the district and talking to thousands of people. I am confident I spoke to more voters than did all of my opponents combined. I made my passionate case and was greeted warmly almost everywhere. On primary election day, the voters overwhelmingly voted for a career politician. I received 625 votes. If the people want good representatives with common sense and without selfish ambition, they must elect them. The people simply will not elect the kind of everyday people who can save the country.

Asking Congress or a Congressional Comittee to investigate ANYTHING is similar to having one thief investigate another thiefs $100 bill. "Did you find this or did you steal it?"

"Mr. Chairman, I found it at ......, I'm sorry but I do not recall just when or where I found it however with doubt I certainly did not steal it!"

trust our government? Ha, ha, that would be a foolish mistake!
