...his infamous statement that he "loathed" the military. He actually said that?

Depends upon what your definition of "says" says....he DID actually write it, with the intent of getting his yellow ass another draft deferment.

I'll pay his freight, whenever the bozo wants to depart, I'll get a two for one deal and we may send Alec Baldwin with him. I can't stand these lying sacks of sh**

Because of my opposition to the draft and the war, I am in great sympathy with those who are not willing to fight, kill, and maybe die for their country [But I'll lie about wanting to die for some other country if it will get me money] ....

I decided to accept the draft in spite of my beliefs for one reason: to maintain my political viability within the system. For years I have worked to prepare myself for a political life characterized by both practical and political ability and concern for rapid social progress. It is a life I still feel compelled to try to lead. I do not think our system of government is by definition corrupt, [but I did my part to make it as corrupt as possible] however dangerous and inadequate it has been in recent years (the society may be corrupt, but that is not the same thing, and if that is true, we are all finished anyway.)
Bill Clinton's 1969 letter about avoiding the draft.
