I did a search for this, and couldn't find it. They just never get it, do they? It's not that he's not "a high energy circus performer" (frankly, he looks like something from a circus to me - actually he's pretty scary, the way his eyes bug out when he espouses his one world extreme philosophies), it's that he is a nutty liberal and people won't watch him.

Now that we have a choice between normalcy (O'Reilly) and liberal nuttiness, why would anyone watch him at all? There was no one else on but nutty liberals during the 60's and 70's, so there was no audience to compare him to.

When PMSNBC first started hawking Donahue's new show, I thought, "He won't last 90 days."

I'd like to revise that estimate downward to 30 days.

>>>It's a sad final bow for a genuine TV giant.

Make that, it's a sad final bow for a genuine flaming liberal. Nothing more, nothing less.

His sudden downfall has left the amiable 66-year-old talk show pioneer "devastated and humiliated,"

Ha ha, it couldn't have happened to a more evil, smarmy, SOB.

Donahue's lovely actress-wife Marlo Thomas has been his most vocal supporter, according to the insider.

Wonder if she has been vocalizing strings of profanities per her reputation??? I actually didn't know that pinko liberals could be humiliated...seems like a person would have to have some sort of conscience for that to happen.

This is really bad. At least when he goes to bed with Marlo, he is only humiliated and it's Marlo who is devastated.

You all just don't like him because he is a Catholic who speaks his mind. You resent his success too.

"Launching his new live show on July 15, Phil achieved respectable numbers against the competition...But by week's end Donahue crashed and burned as half his viewers vanished."

People watched on the 18th only to see Ann Coulter.

If he'd do a complete 180 to turn into a Goldwater-esque conservative ... I know he'd get back on!

All of the social engineering and leftist issues of the 70's have given way to new plots and fringe nuts and Donahue is still fighting the 70's nonconformist battles. He is so impassioned that he seems unhinged. He sports a wild eyed look that is unnerving and embarrasing for the viewer. It appears, as he stutters, yells and waves his arms about that spittle is flying causing guests to duck.

One of the things that is hardest for anyone to do is to acknowledge when it is time to move on, or to try a different format for one's talents. Maybe just to retire. In a way I feel sorry for Phil. He thought he could do his liberal causes some good, but he is actually making himself and his causes look more rediculous than they already appear.

Phil was host of a talk show known for it's shock value. After 8 years of Clinton our shock absorbers are plain worn out. He can't get our attention using shock tactics any more, we are numb.

Awwwwww. Phil, my heart's just breaking in two for you. Might I suggest some light reading to take your mind off your failure?

When are the libs going to realize the public doesn't want their message any more?? I mean, what do we have to do to get the point across - liberalism doesn't sell in American any more.

Donahue? I never watched any of his shows old or new. He married the former (?) actress Marlo Thomas. If Donahue had a head for the news and currect events I'm know I would be watching his show.

Lovely? Marlo Thomas is lovely? In what Alice-In-Wonderland reality is this true?

Next we'll hear Chelsea Clinton described as sultry and supple.

And every bit deserved.
Self-criticism is good. I just hope he draws the right conclusion: retire; go away; you are an irrelevant boor.

And lose the "owl" glasses, it just makes you look like the idiot that you are.

What you feel is irrelevant to 99.9999% of the American public.
Is all that clear enough?

On the other hand, burning up a few more "progressive" "socialist" Hilary millions pursuing your delusions is a very good thing.
Talk about mixed feelings.

She was lovely, perhaps, 35 years ago. Anybody got a recent photo? Bridgette Bardot was lovely at the same time Marlo was - seen her lately? Ick.
