Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman, the vice presidential candidate whose reputation as a rhetorical straight-shooter earned him a regular slot on the "Imus" show, wilted in front of the microphone Friday morning. Mr. Lieberman, chairman of the Enron-investigating Governmental Affairs Committee, became utterly flummoxed by Don Imus' persistent questions over a simple matter: Will the senator be calling former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin to testify about the role he and his firm, Citigroup (where he serves as chairman of the executive committee of the board of directors), played in Enron's financial debacle, which cost investors more than $50 billion?

Who says he has a compass? Remember that he said during the presidential campaign that in public he was in favor of abortion and in private he was against abortion.
Ah! To be a liberal and not have to be responsible for what you say!
Don't forget Senator John Corzine.
Well said!
Did you hear Bernie on Imus this morning?
They were discussing New Jersey's two senators and Bernie said, "Yeah, Jersey has two Senators, one bought his seat and the other one sold his."
May have been Krauthammer or Will...
Lieberman ought to follow Ashcroft's example and recuse himself from these hearings. In the past 6 years Lieberman has received according to one reporting group $59,296 from Citigroup, but another group says the amount is $112,546. In 2000 Enron contributed $25,000 to a group Liberman founded called New Democratic Network. Citigroup contributed $100,000 to Joe's group in 2001 and Arthur Andersen contributed $20,000 to them in 2001. In comparison Lieberman only received $13,900 from the National Jewish Democratic Council in the same 6 year period.
I must say I'm troubled
By Bill Clinton telling lies
He's a disgrace doubled
Tripled, and multiplied.
But on the Senate floor
My troubles disappear
For I'm a Dem once more
And vote to save him without fear.
I'm worried I must say
About violence on TV
Kids who watch it all day
And then strangle puppies.
But when I'm in LA
My troubles turn upside down
Just send campaign cash my way:
Hollywood's my kind of town
I'm troubled and puzzled too
By the President and Enron
Seems to me as it may to you:
There's monkey business going on.
However in private I can see
And I'm troubled I can't say:
My business is so full of monkeys
That the voters should flush me away.
Regards, Ivan
He just gave away the plan...they will NOT call these people as witnesses. It will not be constructive to uncover Clinton crony/gov't corruption because it also points to members of Congress.
